SEVVAAY DHOSHAM
There was a message in the FaceBook about astrological dhosham.I took an old posting which I wrote in Agathiyar and sent to her.
I thought it might be pertinent to float it around so that many more people might read.

It is true. Chevvai dhosham is cancelled by several fatcors. Judging by these, 70% of the so-called Chavvai dhoshams get neutralised. They are not really afflicted.
Of the remaining 30%, the dhosham is of varying degrees.
The same thing can be said of Raahu dhosham.
But we have to really think...and think hard on the fate of those girls who are barnded as having these dhoshams, but do not really have afflictions.
It is actually the fault of the astrologer or pujaari.
The common people are conditioned into consulting horoscopes on every occasions for everything.
These beleives are only getting stronger. Its because of several factors like fear, desire, ambition, superstition, ignorance, compulsion, etc.
So it becomes a racket.
There is a priest in North Malaysia. (Year 1999) He is called by tiga-tiga-kosong and lima-lima-kosong. It means three-three-zero, and five-five-zero. They happen to be the rates for the two types of Santi Homas that he does.
He also is beleived to be a great astrologer. And so, if he says there is dhosha , then dhosha it has be.
He does at least twenty such homas per month. That will be at least Malaysia Ringgit nine thousand. He also does other things as well. Pujas, archanas, marriages, naamakaranas,
ear-boring ,etc.
There is another priest. He will create new dhoshas. Last year, (1998) he declared that all female babies born in the month of Aadi, have a special type of dhosha. He charged Ringgit four hundred and twenty.
So we call him "SivaSri Four-Twenty". (All the priests in Malaysia put the title 'Siva Sri' as a prefix).
Four-twenty....very appropriate. Reminds me of Indian Penal Code - Section 420 - Fraudulence.
